The Payson Friends of Jazz will feature jazz pianist and vocalist Bill Ippolito in a free performance at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 8 at Community Presbyterian Church, 800 West Main Street, Payson.
A resident of Newport Beach, Calif., Bill is a popular club player in that area. He has family members residing in Payson, and we are fortunate in that he agreed to perform for us while visiting them here. Joining Bill to form an instrumental trio will be Chris Long on acoustic bass, and Gerry Reynolds on drums.
Bill has selected a number of popular tunes to sing and play, many of which orginated from the Great American Song Book of American Composers, such as "How About You," "Just In Time," "I've Got You Under My Skin," "My Baby Just Cares For Me," "It's Delovely," "Sweet Lorraine," "Day By Day," "Nica's Dream," "Medication," and many more.
And, just for the fun of it he says, he will add an operatic tune by Puccini called " O Mio Bobbino Caro," supported by his special guest, an opera singer.
Sounds like a fun afternoon of music entertainment. A $5 donation at the door includes refreshments.
