Do you have a happy pet story? Aachanon Publishing, a local Publisher, is looking to compile a book of ‘pet tales’ with proceeds to benefit the Humane Society of Central Arizona (HSCAZ).
Aachanon owners, Derek and Guadalupe Pratt, are long-time supporters of the shelter in Payson and are currently looking for heartwarming stories for the book. They hope to have it ready for publication by Christmas.
“So if you, or anyone you know has an upbeat short story about a current or past pet, now is your chance to include it in a beautiful book that will bring joy to all who read it, and will ultimately help HSCAZ continue its mission to care for the lost, abandoned, and homeless animals of Rim Country,” said HSCAZ grant writer, Patti Keyworth.
Guadalupe Pratt said that Aachanon would waive the set up fees for the books, which is their charitable contribution. They will only receive a small amount for the books, enough to cover printing costs. The rest of the proceeds will be donated to the shelter for the animals.
“But we need to get more stories,” said Pratt, who is concerned about getting the final product out by the holiday season.
“We need to get the word out to more people,” she added.
Aachanon will be accepting story submissions until Sept. 15. They should be sent in Word Rich Text Format (Word 2003 preferred), or any compatible document program, to aachanon@isp.com.
If you wish to include a photo of your pet, it can be e-mailed along with your story, or a print can be mailed to the Pratts at 3680 E. Arizona Hwy 260, #C30, Payson, AZ 85541.
“We also need help on naming the book,” said Pratt.
Contact them with ideas and suggestions. The shelter also needs volunteers to help sell the books at places like booths in public venues.
