Gila County debuts new election reporting system

GLOBE, AZ -- Gila County, in conjunction with the Arizona Secretary of State, will be using an online tool called Election Night Reporting (ENR) to display election results live as they are available on election night. This new website interface will provide candidates, the media, and other members of the public with detailed, graphical views of state and county election results.

The ENR system posts election results generated by each county and displays them in concise graphical bar charts that show side-by-side comparisons for each candidate’s vote totals. Bar charts clearly illustrate percentage and total vote count figures and voter turnout is easily viewed

“This is a great, new service to the citizens of Gila County and the State of Arizona. The system promotes transparency and more timely access to election results. Media and citizens can see the numbers for themselves on election night as they are received by our office,” says Linda Eastlick, Director Gila County Division of Elections. “Every vote counts and the ENR system provides graphical insight into election results.”

The new reporting system will debut statewide during the Primary Election, August 24, 2010. The ENR system can be accessed from the Gila County website www.gilacountyaz.gov or from the Secretary of State website at www.azsos.gov. The Gila County Division of Elections will begin posting election results one hour after precinct polling locations have closed on election night and updates will occur throughout the night until all precincts have reported.

Individuals can access the results from home or alternatively, they can come to the Gila County Courthouse or the Payson County Administration Building (610 East Arizona Hwy. 260) on election night. Election results can be viewed on interactive TV or accessed via computers set up in the Globe Board of Supervisors hearing room or the Payson Board of Supervisor’s conference room after 8:00 pm.
