Arizona 260 east of SV reduced to one lane Friday

PRESCOTT – The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is continuing its effort to transform a two-lane segment of Arizona State Route 260 15 miles east of Payson and 12 miles east of Star Valley to a four-lane divided highway. The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2011.

The roadway will be narrowed to one lane from 6 a.m. to noon on Friday (Aug. 6). Crews will be relocating concrete barriers prior to shifting traffic onto a newly constructed detour. Flaggers and a pilot car will guide vehicles through the work zone in alternating directions. Drivers should expect delays of up to 20 minutes.

Drivers can expect brief delays as excavated material is hauled across the roadway from 6 a.m. to 4 a.m., Monday (Aug. 9) through Thursday (Aug. 12).

Drivers should allow extra time to reach their destinations.

Speed limits are reduced and a width restriction of 10 feet is in place. Message boards, temporary barricades, and signage will guide motorists through the work zone.

Information regarding the project is available on the toll-free project hotline at 1-877-521-1118. Weekly construction e-updates are available at prescottdistrictupdates@azdot.gov.

While ADOT strives to inform the public about planned roadway restrictions, during any construction project there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Drivers can visit ADOT’s Travel Information Site at www.az511.gov or call 5-1-1 for the most current information about restrictions statewide.
