Claudio's Chile Hot Jazz Band performs on 4th

Sunday 4th of July Celebration -- Claudio's Chile Hot Jazz Band will perform in patriotic style from 2-4 p.m. this Sunday in the parking lot of the Payson Community Presbyterian Church, 800 W Main Street, as part of the church's 75th anniversary bazaar.

This dixieland, or New Orleans-styled band is led by Claudio Zamorano on trumpet, with trumpeter Ken Taylor, bass trombone player Mike Buskirk, tuba player Dave Ihlenfeld, banjo player Dale Knighton, and drummer Gerry Reynolds. Listen to tunes such as "Way Down Yonder in New Orleans," "Shine," "I'm Confessing That I Love You," "I Found a New Baby," "Republic Hymn," "When You Are Smiling," and many other traditional jazz standards. Free to the public.

Sunday July 11th -- The Payson Jazz Trio with special guest guitarist John Darst will perform from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Payson Community Presbyterian Church, 800 West Main Street. This is the regular performance for July in the monthly jazz series at the church that has extended for almost nine years. Bob Smolenski will play piano, Mike Buskirk is on bass, Gerry Reynolds on the drums, with our guest guitarist John Darst from Show Low. As this month's featured group, the PJT performs mainstream jazz , and such tunes as "Satin Doll," "Our Love Is Here To Stay," "A Foggy Day," "Take The A Train," "My Funny Valentine," and many other ballad and Latin tunes are in the play book. Open to the public, a donation may be given.

Saturday July 24th -- The Payson Jazz Trio with guest guitarist John Darst will perform again from 7 - 9 p.m. in the Payson Parks & Recreation's Summer Concert Series in Green Valley Park. The group will play other selections from it's book of music, including "Autum Leaves," "Have You Met Miss Jones," "Black Orpheus," "The Days of Wine and Roses," "There Will Never Be Another You," and other ballad love songs, as well as some swing tunes. Dancer's are welcome! The cement floor in front of the band stand is there for you. Free to the public.
