Lone newspaper, radio station short on truth
Dear Mogollon Connection:
As most of us know, on Saturday, April 3, the Payson Main Street organizer’s had an Easter Egg Hunt, a gala affair in Green Valley park. It was a smash hit! So much in fact, there were a few ‘four-legged uninvited guests that arrived and tried to snitch the contents of the eggs before the two-legged guest’s were able to pick them up. I’m sure it was their bushy-tails that gave them away. Not to worry though. The organizers announced that anyone finding only a hole in their egg could return it for a more substantial prize. Too cute!
I was drawn to the park for fun and frivolity by the Hat Decorating contest. Belonging to the Fancy Flair of Red Chapter of the Red Hat Society, a few of the chapter member’s (and other chapters as well) came dressed to the hilt and adorned by the elaborate hats we made.
A lady was present by the name of, Miss (Carolyn) Wall, (Mogollon Connection correspondent). She was taking pictures and wanting to know our names. I was amazed, and delighted when she informed me that she was there on-behalf of the Mogollon Connection. I expressed my opinion, and friends of mine, on how happy we are that the MC has come to the Payson/Star Valley towns.
It was a black-black day for our towns when the Gazette had to close its doors. It’s rather disheartening to realize that there is only one paper — one radio station, both believing there is only — ‘room-for-one’ — in our towns. When there is only one opinion being delivered there is no hope for the ‘factual’ truth to be known. Hopefully, with the MC coming into our lives and Jim Keyworth coming back into our lives, that issue will no longer beleaguer our minds. Welcome! Welcome!
