2010 ties 2005 as warmest year in history

The numbers are in, and 2010 tied 2005 as the warmest years ever according to an article in today's (Jan. 13) Arizona Republic.

The average global temperature in both years was 58.12 degrees Fahrenheit, 1.12 degrees above the average temperature for the 20th century.

Proponents of global warming were quick to note that it proves that climate change is occurring.  Opponents disagreed.

Whichever side you choose to believe, there is no denying that nine of the 10 hottest years on record have occurred since 2001.

Pick up a copy of today's Republic to read the whole story on page A3 or go to azcentral.com.  To have the Republic delivered to your door seven days a week, call 1-800-332-6733.

If you still like the feel of a newspaper in your hands, you get much more with the Republic, including the grocery ads, TV guide, coupons, and the great big Sunday paper with comics.
