RE: Town Council needs better balance
All voters in the Town of Payson – READ CAREFULLY! Before you vote, please consider the following.
In this year's town election we are electing three seats on the Payson Town Council. We have four candidates.
As of now, the council is lopsided and it needs better balance in order for us to have better government. The 2008 national election taught us that one party rule is a bad thing. The same premise is also true in Payson.
Presently, on our 7-member town council, we have Mike Vogel, Michael Hughes, John Wilson, Rick Croy and Mayor Evans, all pro-growthers and beholden to the real-estate and development communities. Only one member, Ed Blair, is a true populist. Su Connell is somewhere in the middle.
We need to work toward better balance on our town council. In this upcoming election, the way to do this is to vote for Ed Blair, Fred Carpenter and Su Connell. Fred is also a populist and beholden to no one. Such a change in the makeup of the town council would be a definite step in the right direction!
