Blair, home rule, kids top e-mail straw poll

Carpenter, Connell would also win seats

In an informal, unofficial e-mail straw poll conducted by Payson resident Lew Levenson, Ed Blair, home rule and children were the big winners.

Here, based on a 16 percent response rate, are the results:

Ed Blair              36.2% of the votes
Su Connell          23.2% of the votes
Fred Carpenter   23.2% of the votes
Mike Vogel         17.4% of the votes.

Home Rule             YES 78.6%    NO 21.4%

Schools Override    YES 64%       NO 36%

Each of the council candidates was asked and agreed to supply their lists for the poll, which, Levenson believes, "would tend to cancel out each other's biased vote count.

"My instincts tell me that the two propositions may be overstated," Levenson continued. "The responders being email activists may be more likely to vote than others who may tend to be more conservative."
