At Kentucky event, young men from 'Team Mitch' posed choking and groping an AOC cut-out

Mitch McConnell and his team were already getting widespread criticism after his campaign account tweeted a photo from Fancy Farm picnic in Kentucky, the photo was of a Mitch McConnell campaign vehicle and a small mock graveyard in front of it, the tombstones had the names of his opponents, including his current opponent, veteran U.S. Marine fighter pilot Amy McGrath. The photo was sent in the hours immediately following the politically and racially motivated mass murders in El Paso.

But, that wasn’t the only deplorable behavior on display from Team Mitch. Young men wearing “Team Mitch” shirts showed up to that same Fancy Farm political picnic with a cardboard cut-out of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, which they gleefully posed with for a series of photos while chocking and groping the image of AOC.

As rage builds nationwide in response to more mass shootings and the death toll from those deadly attacks continue to rise, Republicans have gone into hiding.

Congress is officially in recess right now, but Democrats from coast to coast are calling for emergency action from the U.S. Senate. And Republicans have gone into hiding, refusing to even do interviews about the streak of mass murderers, many of whom echo Donald Trump’s racist rhetoric.

CNN reporters said they tried to get Republicans to come on air to discuss the epidemic and all but one, Rep. Ted Yoho, declined to comment on. CNN has helpfully provided a list of the cowards, along with commentary from former Rep. Mia Love, who called on her former Republican colleagues to speak out and come up with ideas on how to curb this epidemic.

Whether Republicans go into hiding or not, every Democrat in the House and the Senate should return to Washington en masse to make a plan and take action on gun reform. If Republicans refuse to return, let the public see their empty seats. It’ll match their empty rhetoric.

El Paso Shooter Was a Trump Worshiper

A Twitter account bearing the suspect’s name contains liked tweets that include a “BuildTheWall” hashtag, a photo using guns to spell out “Trump,” and posts from Paul Joseph Watson, a far-right Youtuber who works with Alex Jones at InfoWars.

dditionally, police in west Texas are looking into whether the suspect posted an anti-immigrant “manifesto” online before the shooting. 

NBC News identified the suspect as Patrick Crusius of Allen, Texas, citing unspecified police sources.

A Twitter account bearing the suspect’s name contains liked tweets that include a “BuildTheWall” hashtag, a photo using guns to spell out “Trump,” and posts from Paul Joseph Watson, a far-right Youtuber who works with Alex Jones at InfoWars.

Authorities are examining a four-page document that several media outlets are calling a manifesto.  Authorities are trying to determine the document’s authenticity and whether there are ties to the suspect.

The document mentions the suspect in the Christchurch, New Zealand mass shooting at two mosques that left 51 people dead in March. The suspect in that shooting has pleaded not guilty.

The manifesto allegedly linked to the El Paso shooting suspect contains white nationalist talking points on “ethnic displacement" and "race mixing" and refers to immigrants to the United States as "invaders."

It also makes brief mention of using a WASR-10 Kalashnikov pattern rifle, which is consistent with the security camera footage that shows the alleged shooter shouldering an AK-47 rifle.

The shooting took place just after 11 a.m. local time at a store in El Paso as parents and children took advantage of a tax-free shopping day before school begins. El Paso, which is almost 80% Hispanic, is just 12 miles from the Mexican border town of Ciudad Juarez.

Police have not yet issued a statement on the veracity of the alleged manifesto or its relationship to the suspect.

The shooting took place in the city of 840,000 just across the Rio Grande River from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The U.S.-Mexico border has been a big issue on the far right, with talk of “invaders” from predominantly Spanish-speaking countries crossing into the United States.

Did you catch that ? They’ve already filed Articles in the Judiciary Committee.

They included Schiff’s Intelligence Committee because that’s national security stuff. No judge is going to stand in the way of this. They could call Manafort up to testify and he can’t plead the 5th.

Once the judge validates this any subpoena refusal is jail time.

There’s no coming back from this; they’re telling the court we may have to impeach the SOB but we need to look at the evidence. Once this train leaves, there’s only one destination. Impeachment.

If only our pr*sident loved the state of California this much. At least we know he cares about Putin, though, if not the 40 million people who live in our largest state. 

CNN:

US President Donald Trump offered Russian President Vladimir Putin assistance in fighting vast wildfires in Siberia during a phone call on Wednesday, the Kremlin said in a statement.
 

Putin saw the gesture as a step towards warmer relations between both countries, the Kremlin wrote.
 

"The president of Russia praised this move by the President of the United States as a guarantee that in the future it will be possible to restore full-fledged relations between the two countries," it said.

Contrast that with this:

There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor. Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!

Buttigieg directs somber reminder at Republican congressmen and their tarnished legacies

Mayor Pete Buttigieg is a masterful articulator and very good at sidestepping controversy.

Asked, as he stood next to Bernie Sanders onstage at last night’s Democratic debate, whether age was an important factor to consider in the upcoming election, Buttigieg gave a roundabout answer that stressed the importance of ideas and vision over age, while also explaining that looking to younger people was the important evolution needed for our country’s future.

But probably most memorable in his answer was the turn he made at the end, directing a statement to sitting Republican congressmen: “And if you are watching this at home, and you are a Republican member of Congress, consider the fact that when the sun sets on your career, and they are writing your story—of all the good and bad things you did, the thing you will be remembered for is whether in this moment, with this president, you found the courage to stand up to him or you continued to put party over country.” 

That’s just a fact.
