MoveOn launches petition drive to file federal civil rights charges against George Zimmerman

Tonight, a jury acquitted George Zimmerman. But we are not done demanding justice for Trayvon Martin.

We're calling on the U.S. Justice Department to open a civil rights case against George Zimmerman and have launched a petition to Attorney General Eric Holder. The petition says:

The Department of Justice has closely monitored the State of Florida's prosecution of the case against George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin murder since it began.

Today, with the acquittal of George Zimmerman, it is time for the Department of Justice to act.The most fundamental of civil rights—the right to life—was violated the night George Zimmerman stalked and then took the life of Trayvon Martin. We ask that the Department of Justice file civil rights charges against Mr. Zimmerman for this egregious violation.

Please address the travesties of the tragic death of Trayvon Martin by acting today. Thank you.

A suspicous juvenile delinquent attacks a nieghborhood guard who is doing his duty and attempt to murder the guard who defends himself by firing on the perp.
This 17 year old 6'2" 175# CHILD with a deliquency record a mile long is guilty of attempted murder...not the guard, Geo Z.
Go ahead join Obama, Holder, etc. and make it a race issue....and lose again.

Lose again? Seems to me we won the last two presidential elections.

You, sir, are on the wrong side of history. The demographics are moving away from an all-white electorate to a racially diverse, multi-cultural one.

You and your attitudes belong with the dinosaurs who went extinct because they couldn't adapt.

You and your kind are the ones who are destined to lose again and again and again - by ever larger margins.

Why not just Move On?
