This tree is between MP 222 & 223 southbound on AZ 87 heading from Payson to the Valley. It looks like folks just stop and hang shoes from this tree which is at the side of the road.

Just saw the tree on Sunday. some soulless thug cut it down! Made me very sad.

I drive by the shoe tree all the time and a few weeks ago there was a bad accident near the shoe tree. A couple of weeks later the tree was cut down. I assumed that local officials or 'do-gooders' cut it to remove the distraction that was so near the highway on a curve. Sad to see it go!
