LD seeks BP (Local drummer needs bass player)

Drummer Gerry Reynolds (above right) is in need of a bass player who will work with a small group in Payson. This person should be experienced enough to know jazz standards and tunes from the American Songbook.

Playing should primarily be motivated by the love of playing, especially jazz, as the compensation is minimal. There is the opportunity to work 2 to 4 engagements a month, as well as back musicians who come from the Valley to perform monthly at a local church. There will be the opportunity to practice as needed.

Gerry has been the house drummer at the longest running jazz jam lasting more than 10 years at the Pita Jungle in Chandler. He has worked in big bands and jazz combos off and on for more than 30 years, having backed some of Arizona's finest jazz vocalists and instrumentalists. He is past president of Jazz in AZ Inc, and leads a monthly jazz program at the Payson Community Presbyterian Church.

He may be reached at gerry-reynolds@hotmail.com, or by calling 602-619-3355.
