WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Ann Kirkpatrick this week called for an end to the boycotts of Arizona and its businesses launched after SB 1070 was signed into law.
She issued the following statement:
“Everyone needs to understand what is at stake with the boycott. At a time when we are pushing to create jobs and get our economy going again, this could stop Arizona’s recovery in its tracks – costing working Arizonans their jobs and devastating local businesses already fighting the downturn. These people are not political symbols, they are regular folks doing the best they can to support their families in tough times. They do not deserve to be hurt because of this national debate.
“I am opposed to a number of the measures in SB 1070, but it is not right to punish working families and small businesses. People need to drop this effort and join us in pushing Washington to finally fix America’s broken immigration system and secure the border.”
