In a front page article in the Friday, Aug. 22 edition of the Payson Roundup, Editor Pete Aleshire continued to shamelessly shill for Mayor Kenny Evans in his battle against challenger Randy Roberson. And you won't believe what he's giving Kenny credit for now.
You may want to take a deep breath and steady yourself, because this one is mind-boggling.
Are you ready?
OK.
According to Pete, Kenny gets credit for the Blue Ridge pipeline. Yeah, the Blue Ridge pipeline - the one that isn't finished and keeps getting pushed further into the future.
That's right. Even though Pete surely knows better. I sat with Pete during numerous town council meetings during a prior council regime, and Blue Ridge was already a done deal way back then.
What has Kenny accomplished in his way-too-long tenure? A 1.8 mile stretch of pipeline to Mesa del Caballo and another stretch to Chaparral Pines.
Kenny's major contribution to Blue Ridge has been to give a sizable chunk of it away to water gated golf courses and to cronies to build swimming pools in their mansions in those same gated communities. And to be less than forthright about his actions - aided and abetted by the Roundup's coverage.
That was probably the most egregious outrage in Friday's story. But Aleshire also lamented the fact that poor Kenny just can't get a break. He's either doing too much or too little. And he works so hard to bring economic development to Payson - at least 60 hours a week. And all our hero gets in return is unwarranted attacks by that dastardly Roberson.
I wouldn't normally encourage you to read the Payson Roundup. But you need to read this article to see how the town operates under the Evans-Aleshire-Naughton troika.
The good news - you don't have to buy the Roundup. Just go to payson.com and you can read it for free.
You'll find the article right beneath an ad for - what else - Kenny Evans for mayor.

Shamelessly shilling for Kenny
