American
Sign Language is back at GCC with Instructor Bill Camp. Students will learn the development of
American Sign Language and its application within the deaf community. Emphasizes vocabulary, structure, grammar,
dialogues, and narratives. ASL 101, Beginning American Sign Language, meets Tuesdays & Thursdays
from 6-8:20 p.m.
GCC now
offers beginning conversational Spanish. This course emphasizes sentence
structure, vocabulary, pronunciation, and study of Spanish-speaking
cultures. Returning Instructor Bill
Bowling has taught Spanish on the Community College (Eastern Arizona College)
and High School (Payson High School) levels since 1971. He studied a summer in Guadalajara, Mexico
and has traveled with student groups to Mexico several times. SPA
011, Beginning Conversational Spanish I,
meets Mondays & Wednesdays from 11-11:50 a.m.
Elementary and Intermediate Spanish, taught by Lou Crabtree, remain popular transfer courses. SPA 101, Elementary Spanish I, and SPA 201, Intermediate Spanish I, meet Mondays & Wednesdays from 6-8:20 p.m.
Fall semester dates are August 18 – December 11, 2014. Registration is ongoing now. For students 55 and older, tuition is waived.
