Thoughts
By Ana Marie Mowrer
Words elude me thoughts abound
They tease and prance and strut around
But never settle long enough
For me to gather them all up
Into a pretty poem or song
To share with folk who come along
Like butterflies thoughts flitter by
So bright and fair they catch the eye
On momentary wings they float
And then die struggling in the moat
Of tedious unimportant things
Which consume us human beings
