At a public hearing Thursday, June 13, the Gila Community College District will ask for a 2 percent increase in the primary property tax.
This will increase the
primary taxes on a $250,000 home to increase from $213.13 to $217.40. The community college depends on this
property tax along with tuition and a small state fund to support its
operation.
Under state law the college can raise its primary property
taxes by 2 percent each year. Over the last several years the community college
governing board has raised this tax each year.
The public is welcome to attend
this public hearing and voice any views on this issue. Over the
last several years no one has attended or spoken at these hearings.
