If someone needs a place to sleep because of the fire, please call us at 602-680-8149,” said Bob Hill, director of mass care for the Grand Canyon Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Hill explained that this change has been made to ensure that needed services are available to those affected by the fire.
For those who are concerned about loved ones in the area, or those who have been evacuated and want to let friends and family know their status, Red Cross recommends they use the American Red Cross Safe and Well Web Site at http://www.redcoss.org/ safeandwell. For those who have lost computer access due to the fire, they can come to the Red Cross evacuation center to register.
“We can also assist anyone who, because of fire evacuation, does not have access to their medications or medical equipment. We recommend that anyone in need of medication first call their pharmacy and explain their situation and ask for a refill. If that isn’t possible, we can provide assistance. Call us at 1-800-842-7349 to start that process,” said Hill.
“Once residents are allowed back in their homes, Red Cross will be available to assess their needs,” said Hill. “Until then, our volunteers at the evacuation center are here to help.”
