LETTER TO THE EDITOR
The following letter appeared recently in The Arizona Republic:
'Seniors struggled before Medicare'
Medicare was instituted because many seniors without health insurance were going bankrupt. Why? Because it was either not available because of pre-existing conditions or, if you could get it, the premiums were very high.
Seniors were filing for bankruptcy or selling their homes simply to have health care. Putting seniors back into the insurance companies' hands is not the answer.
