LETTER TO THE EDITOR
[Gazette Blog Editor's note: We like about 90 percent of what Arizona Game & Fish does, but their bear policy sucks. Here's a letter from a Valley resident who agrees. It appeared in a recend edition of The Arizona Republic:]
I'm appalled that the Arizona Game and Fish Department is hunting down bears and killing them because they might have been linked to a human attack.
Three bears have been murdered for simply living their life in their territory.
Game and Fish could learn a lot from the recent primate attack on a U.S. student at a sanctuary in South Africa. The lead government investigator stated that the chimpanzees were "defending their territory and will be allowed to live." They declared it was human error.
As a friend of mine so clearly stated, "Even convicted murderers get to live for 20-plus years on death row before they are finally executed - and they knew what they were doing was wrong.
