Closure possible on AZ188 today

Work to remove large boulder could
cause delays near Roosevelt Dam

An emergency road closure or long delay could impact traffic traveling on State Route 188 just east of Roosevelt Dam on Thursday, May 16, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

ADOT will be assisting Salt River Project with the removal of a large rock which is attached to a retention line supporting one of their power poles on an embankment above and next to the highway in Gila County.

The large rock became dislodged from the embankment and needs to be removed. ADOT and SRP are working closely together to remove the large rock, which may require a closure or delay.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
