Jazz Trumpeter Ken Taylor brings spring to Payson

Trumpeter Ken Taylor Quartet
with
Dave Ihlenfeld, Piano
Steve Douglas, bass
Gerry Reynolds, drums

Sunday April 10th, 2 p.m.
Community Presbyterian Church
800 West Main Street, Payson

Ken Taylor came to Arizona in 1998 after a successful teaching and performing career in Ohio and Michigan. He is now a part of many of the Valley’s top jazz and symphonic ensembles. These include the Mesa Community College Band, Arizona Big Band, Extreme Decibel Band, Prince Shell/Ted Goddard 10tet, Scottsdale Symphony, and the professional symphony “MusicaNova.” He also supports top area vocalists
Margo Reed, Nancy Gee, Michele Camey, and Delphine Cortez.

Ken holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in music from Miami of Ohio University.  Studies at the doctorate level in music education and performance were pursued at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory Music.

Ken's jazz voice is distinctive, and his commitment to sharing the history and evolution of American Jazz music with its "future stars and next audience" is paramount.

Sunday's performance will be "songs of Spring," broadway tunes by American composers which have become very popular, such as "It Might As Well Be Spring", done in a tasty, swinging jazz style.

A $5 – $10 donation per person requested at the door. Refreshments included.

This event is a produced by The Payson Friends of Jazz in conjunction with the Payson Community Presbyterian Church.
