"YMCA" is a great song for wedding receptions, but the voters have spoken - don't build one in our community.

The current edition of the local newspaper, aka the Payson Groundup, says the latest talks with ASU involve building a YMCA as part of a campus complex.
Do the Groundup, those working on the college project, and Mayor Kenny Evans and his rubber stamp council not remember that the voters were asked a few years back if they wanted a YMCA? We said NO!
How dare anybody talk about building a YMCA in light of that vote? Doesn't what the citizens clearly expressed in that election count for anything?
Until another vote is taken, the answer is the same - we don't want a YMCA in our community. The people have spoken.

Too bad kids cant vote. they would have a ymca. instead we have retirees who voted down the ymca and complain about the kids when they have nothing to do. move to sun city if you hate kids. the next ymca will pass for sure. too bad jim , town is for kids too.
IF ITS PART OF THE ASU CAMPUS I HOPE YOU DONT HAVE A VOTE JIM / HA /
Jumping from that possible atrocity to Ranch Property, proposed site for ammo plant. Now reveled that the entire tract would be developed as an industrial park! A tragedy in the making.
I've never complained about kids having nothing to do, but maybe there's a reason kids can't vote - they'd most likely not consider the financial ramifications of a Y. Whatever you may think our motive, the people have spoken on this subject - the people who are old enough to vote. Just out of curiosity, what would you like to lower the voting age to? And maybe if you're so worried about kids having something to do, you should open your private golf course and pool to them.
The ymca would also employ people in payson. I would open a ymca for everyone if i were wealthy. I have coached several sports for the ymca free of course. I wasnt aware of financial responsibilities by the town. I thought the y was non profit and self sustaining. I am an average parent who works hard and wants kids to grow up with opportunities and success. Kids are the future and if i could get every 18 yr old in payson to vote you would lose. I am not a idiot. I was talking about young adults voting. p.s. i know alot of kids that im sure have a higher iq than you jim. BY the way i happen to agree with you on the water issue. I just know i appreciated ymca facilities and recreation activities for kids and adults. Go visit one maybe youll change your mind. They even have gymnastics classes w all the equipement nobody in payson can afford. Well i hope we dont vote and the council and asu trumps you . And i believe the vote was close and next vote KIDS WILL WIN . GO YMCA

We have three privately owned gyms in town. Costs probably lower than Y! The proposed Y is more of the generalized Payson contemporary sleaze. Y is a profit-making franchise. Whose pal would get the franchise? ASU inner circle, Mayor's inner circle? And by the way, what kind of a college does not have it's own athletic facilities?
