New Bridge under construction over Oak Creek

Drivers should expect the closure of Ewing Trail at Oak Creek during construction

The Arizona Department of Transportation will administer a Gila County project beginning Monday, Oct. 27 to make improvements on Ewing Trail at Oak Creek which is located in the Tonto Basin area by Roosevelt Lake.

The $1.9 million county project includes constructing a two span concrete girder bridge over Oak Creek and reconstructing part of Ewing Trail. The work will necessitate the closure of Ewing Trail at Oak Creek just north of the Bar X crossing. Closure signs will be posted at two of the Tonto Creek Crossings, one at Bar X east of Butcher Hook, and the other Forest Road 71 at Punkin Center.

Work hours will be from sunrise to sunset Monday through Friday. The project is anticipated to be completed by the first part of May.

For more information about this project, please call Rod Wigman at 928 308-8233, or email rwigman@azdot.gov.
