Payson
Art League Monthly Meeting and Presentation
September
17, 2013 – 6 p.m.
Burdell Moody Jarvis, a noted Arizona artist
who is a former Army correspondent combat artist and retired
art teacher will give a presentation on plein air painting at the
September 17 Payson Art League monthly meeting.
“I think my work can best be described as a
form of post-impressionism,” Burdell said.
“I have always leaned in the direction of a certain abstraction and
simplification of form and content.” His
approach to painting started early in life from a natural interest in the
possibilities of chance and suggestion, rather than more academic motivation or
traditional realism.
His work was included in the “Art of the
American Soldier” exhibit at the National Constitution Center, Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania in 2010-11 and he is currently involved in the Arizona Plein Air
Painters Association. You will want to
attend the PAL meeting to hear Burdell talk about plein air painting using work of local artists from an earlier workshop.
The public is invited to join art league
members Tuesday, September 17 at 6 p.m. at the Rim Country Health and
Retirement Center, 807 W. Longhorn Rd. in the dining room. Light refreshments will be served.
