We already have a huge % of citizens locked up compared to any other nation and we just continue to create and pass stupid laws and refuse changing ones that should have never been created in the first place. At an average of $33k in tax payer money spent per inmate per year the profit margin to be made off the backs of the tax paying citizens and those incarcerated for petty offenses is absolutely unfounded. The sentencing of contributing, hard working everyday citizens on small time marijuana possession crimes hurts the economy and nation as a whole while the few invested in privatized prisons, the already wealthy, benefit from it.<br />Is this really the new American Way?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
